Ivan Marques is the Managing Director of the International Action Network on Small Arms – IANSA. He is a Brazilian lawyer and a researcher in Human Rights and Citizen Security. He holds an MSc in International Affairs from the University of Campinas, Brazil, and another in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science, England.
He has worked for the Brazilian Federal government, including the Human Rights Ministry and the Secretariat for Strategic Affairs in the President’s office. More recently, Mr. Marques was the Executive Director of the Sou da Paz Institute, a Brazilian disarmament think tank and a consultant to the United Nations Office for Disarmament affairs.
For his contribution to the improvement of Brazilian public security, he was awarded by the President of Brazil with the Public Safety National Order of the Merit in 2018. Mr Marques is involved with several independent projects aiding civil society organizations and research institutes on citizen security, disarmament, and capacity building.
